Tri-Valley CAREs is seeking legal interns for full- or part-time positions. Applicants with a particular interest in environmental justice, public health, and disarmament are encouraged to apply.

These positions offer the opportunity to work with a variety of environmental laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the California Endangered Species Act (CESA), the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), among others. Legal interns also assist in monitoring the Department of Energy's compliance with its obligations under various international laws.

In addition, legal interns are responsible for making requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the California Public Records Act. Legal interns also actively participate in litigation.

The legal intern's primary functions are to perform legal research; prepare memorandums, complaints, motions, and briefs; review agency documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and perform outreach and policy work regarding nuclear weapons and their associated environmental impacts.
