Communities Against a Radioactive Environment
On December 5, Tri-Valley CAREs Executive Director, Marylia Kelley, will speak on Tri-Valley CAREs' behalf at a public forum with the International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms and the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation about the #NuclearZero Lawsuits brought by the Republic of the Marshall Islands against the Nuclear Weapons States for their failure to disarm as required by the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Kelley will speak about the #NuclearZero litigation underway in the U.S. federal court. The forum will feature many speakers, including Judge Christopher Weeramantry who was Vice-President of the International Court of Justice when, in 1996, it ruled on the illegality of the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons. The forum is being held in conjunction with the Vienna Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons., hosted by the government of Austria, which Kelley will also attend.
