Tri-Valley CAREs at the Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference

Tri-Valley CAREs will be sending its Executive Director, Marylia Kelley, to New York later this month for the 5-year Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

Marylia will join several other distinguished panelists on two panels on the "modernization"" of nuclear weapons, globally and in the US. Please come if you will be at the Conference, and please share with others who may be interested.

During the Conference, you can be part of an international action of people around the world “waving” goodbye to nuclear weapons right here in Livermore. Beginning on Sun., April 26th, the day before the review conference begins, many groups of environmentalists, youth, human rights activists, civic leaders and others will gather at the Peace and Planet Rally in New York at 1 pm to begin the "Global Wave.” The wave will then proceed every hour westward around the globe, through each time zone at 1 pm.

Locally, Tri-Valley CAREs is organizing a “wave” event at Livermore Labs sign at the West Gate entrance on Vasco Road. A complete packet of photos from “wave” events around the world, including the Livermore wave, will be presented to the UN at the Conference the following Friday. Call us at (925) 443-7148 for more information or just show up at 1pm at the West Gate.
