Communities Against a Radioactive Environment
GREAT NEWS - Today, Senator Feinstein said "YES" to our request to ask President Obama to remove funding for the new Long-Range Stand Off Warhead from his budget request. THANK YOU FOR CALLING HER OFFICE!
Right now, the Obama Administration is drafting the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget for nuclear weapons. It contains plans to accelerate development of a new nuclear weapon, called the Long-Range Stand Off (LRSO) warhead and cruise missile.
The LRSO warhead is being designed at Livermore Lab to be launched atop a new, stealthier cruise missile to be designed by the Pentagon.
Current plans call for designing and building 1,000 of these horrific new nuclear weapons at an estimated cost upwards of $20-$30 billion.
The new LRSO warhead is in the very earliest stages of design at Livermore Lab. The same is true for the Pentagon’s new cruise missile. You and I can stop this new nuclear weapon by taking action today.
Urge Senator Boxer to help cancel the plans for this dangerous, destabilizing, and expensive new nuclear weapon. This past March, Senator Dianne Feinstein noted, “I know of no compelling case” for developing the new LRSO warhead and cruise missile. That was true then, and it is equally true now!
Please take a few minutes to ask Senator Barbara Boxer to support Senator Feinstein through the capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.
Inform her of her colleagues' valid concerns about the new LRSO warhead and cruise missile – and press her to take immediate action to stop it now by urging President Obama to keep this new nuclear weapon out of the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget.
Please call Senator Boxer today at 202-224-3121.
