Two California Reps Tell it Like it Is

Today, U.S. Representatives Loretta Sanchez (D-CA 46th District) and John Garamendi (D-CA 3rd District) released a joint press statement decrying the "outdated-Cold War view" that prompted certain members of the House Armed Services Committee (on which they both serve) to add half a billion dollars in wasteful spending to the fiscal year 2014 National Defense Authorization Bill.

The Sanchez-Garamendi statement singles out wrongheaded spending to maintain U.S. B61 nuclear bombs in Europe "without considering cost effective alternatives," to rush development of a new Missile Defense site on the East Coast and for other programs that "cling to the Cold War arms races of the past."

We note that until redistricting moved Rep. Garamendi to an area north of Livermore, he had served as our local member of Congress. Thank you, John and Loretta, for speaking reason today into the cacophony of crazy that would authorize additional funding for the already-bloated military budget.
